Dr. Frosty Levy is a very entertaining hike leader for the Friends of Roan Mountain. I’ve enjoyed his forest walks and his knowledge of the trees of the Southern Appalachian Mountains.
This Fall Rally (Sept 6) he will be helping us to explore the Doe River Corridor. During an ambush interview during first day of classes for East Tennessee State University, he graciously allowed us a few minutes preview, but without giving away the secrets of the presentation.
News from the Mountain:

e goats are off of the mountain. A great big THANK YOU ! to the assistant goat herders who turned out last Wednesday at Carver’s Gap. A great turn out, and many of the herders were first timers.
The day was very comfortable but the view was limited. At one time the fog was so thick that we couldn’t see everybody in the “moving goat fence”. Fortunately it improved before the goats were turned out.
The hike off of the mountain was uneventful. All goats made it off the mountain under their own power and there were no side trips.
