Sycamore Shoals Sate Park – Elizabethton, TN – First Hike – 10:00 a.m. *By reservation only* Join us for an enjoyable mid-morning tour of the Carter Mansion. Visit this elegant frontier home, festively decorated for the holidays and learn about the seasonal traditions of the 18th Century. Dress appropriately for the weather as we will be taking a casual stroll from the Visitor Center of the Carter Mansion (located beside the parking lot) to the Carter Mansion.
Tour will begin at 10 a.m. by reservation only. To make a reservation, call 423-543-5808. Reservations must be made by Tuesday, December 30 at 3:30 pm ET. Warrior’s Path State Park – Kingsport TN – First Hike Night Hike: Thursday, January 1, 5:30 pm
Discover a “new world” of nature discovery on this first night of the new year! Come experience a winter night at YOUR state park, out in the Sinking Waters wetland. Dress warmly, wear good walking shoes and bring a dim flashlight. Meet at the park’s Horse Stables parking area to begin our hike into the night-time habitats. Note that this hike will be CANCELLED in case of dangerous driving conditions. Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park – Limestone, TN – First Hike – 11:00 a.m. Just 14 miles below Jonesborough is the Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park. Their First Hike will be an hour long history hike.The Limestone Creek Trail History Hike will include the Old Stage Road, an old grist mill site, a civil war grave site and native plants along the Nolichucky River.. Grandfather Mountain State Park – Linville, TN – First Hike – 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Profile Trail parking lot. *Under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Please no pets.  
Meet at: Profile Trail Parking Lot. If Lot is closed due to weather conditions meet at Lowe’s Foods parking lot (near intersection of 105 & 184).
Join Ranger Sicard to hike the first mile of the Profile Trail. During the hike participants will be using sights, sounds, and touch for a unique hiking experience. We will be out for 2.5 hours and we may be off the trail. Please dress appropriately for the weather and conditions.

Mount Mitchell State Park – Burnsville, NC – First Hike – 11:00 a.m.  Meet at the Summit parking lot for a Ranger lead hike on the Balsam Nature Trail.Start the New Year with a brisk winter hike! Join a ranger for a winter walk along the Balsam Nature Trail. Total hike is approximately .75 miles. Please dress appropriately with hats, scarves, gloves, boots. Temperatures can be quite cold up here in the winter especially if the wind is howling.
